Pupil Premium Strategy

The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

What is it's purpose?

The purpose of the pupil premium is to help students from low income families who are eligible for free school meals (or have been at any time in the last six years), looked after children and those from families with parents in the armed forces. In particular, the main aim of the pupil premium is to raise the achievement of these students and to close the attainment gap between these students and those not entitled to this support.

How to apply

FSM at LSGS

All of the students at Lubavitch Senior Girls’ School who are entitled to the premium are either on free school meals (or have been at any time in the last six years) or are looked after children. Nationally, these students achieve at a level significantly below those not entitled to the premium on all key indicators.

Funding for pupils in the school who receive the Pupil Premium grant is spent in the following ways:

  • 1 to 1 tuition and small teaching group sessions, for students in subjects across all key stages, provided by Learning Support Assistants. Extra tuition lessons in all subjects as required.
  • Additional mentoring provisions to support students both socially and mentally.
  • Money is spent on funding school materials such as Modern Hebrew workbooks, sewing materials etc.
